Poem from a friend

MY MOM IS A SURVIVOUR

My Mom is a survivor
Or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night,
When all others are in bed.

I watch her lay awake at night,
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.

But like the sounds on the beach
that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving Mom,
who thinks of me each day.

She wears a smile for others
a smile of disguise.
But through Heavens doors I see
tears flowing from her eyes.

My Mom tries to cope with death
to keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.

As I watch over my surviving Mom
through Heavens open door..
I try to tell her that Angels
Protect me forevermore.

I know that doesn't help her
or ease the burden she bears.
So if you get a chance, go visit her
and show her that you care.

For no matter what she says
no matter what she feels.
My surviving Mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

Don't forget
08.15.04 (3:54 pm)   [edit]
Your presence is a gift to the world,
You're unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be -
Take it one day at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles,
And you'll make it through what comes along.
Within you are so many answers,
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don't put limits on yourself,
Your dreams are waiting to be realized.
Don't leave your important decisions to chance -
Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying -
The longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets.
Don't take things too seriously -
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way -
Remember that a lot goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment,
Life's treasures are people... together.

Have health and hope and happiness,
Take the time to wish on a star.
And don't ever forget for even a day...
How very special YOU are!

tea leaf reading
08.13.04 (9:24 am)   [edit]
Tea-Leaf Reading
By Basil Ivan Rakoczi; Man, Myth, and Magic Volume 20

(Copied from AZMagick)

Although telling fortunes by consulting the patterns formed by tea-leaves on the base and sides of a cup is often regarded as drawing-room entertainment, it is not purely an amusement. The tea leaves can act as a medium through which the clairvoyance of the reader is stimulated so that he or she is able to reveal truths that would otherwise remain hidden; or the figures formed by the leaves may be believed to reflect patterns that exist in the astral.

The method used in tea-leaf reading is time honored and simple. The client inverts her cup, turning it round three times; she places it on the saucer and then taps the bottom three times with her left index finger. The clairvoyant, who is in a light trance,
picks the cup up and turns it round so that the leaves can be inspected. All tea leaf readers have their preferred methods of interpreting the patterns made by the leaves, and only some general indication of their meaning is given here:

Chain of small leave: A journey, travel; if two larger leaves are in close proximity, the excursion is mental and not physical.

Serpentine chain of small leaves: a visit to the mountains; if two larger leaves are in close proximity, there will be ups and downs in daily life; inability to settle down.

Three small leaves close to one leaf: A man.

Two leaves close to a small leaf: A woman.

Group of small leaves in a triangular pattern: A child or children.

Heart: Love; a heart broken or crossed by a chain of leaves represents a broken love affair or divorce.

Triangle: Emotional involvement; jealousy; rivalry. If pointing downwards this shape indicates a menage a trois, if upwards, ambition and success are suggested.

Square: Several different possibilities are suggested by this formation; it may mean that the person concerned is well-established, conservative and solid character. Bit it can also imply a need for protection, or the client's failure to excel in his career.

Star: Great success; a sign of genius; spiritual enlightenment. However, if it falls on or near a heart formation, the passions may be crushed and replaced by a life of asceticism.

The appearance of more complicated symbols or geometric signs needs profound study; because of their rarity they are extremely significant.

Many leaves spread all over the cup: A rich or confused character; extravagance; negligence; generosity.

Very few leaves in the cup: Clarity; direct action in the future. However, this also indicates poverty in emotional life, and if the leaves seem to arrange themselves in a provocative way they must be read with great care so that they offset the poverty of the all-over pattern.

Cross: This means that the client is at a crossroads in life, and that a personal sacrifice may be necessary. If this pattern is in conjunction with one large leaf, it can signify death. However, care and tact should be exercised in making such an interpretation, and it should be remembered that the possible death is not necessarily that of the
client. Other leaves close by will ward off danger, and show a remedy for whatever ill is likely to befall him.

Circle: Marriage; a close partnership; fame. A good omen.

Circle with a cross on it: Enforced confinement, possibly in a hospital, prison, or other institution.

Two parallel lines of leaves: A propitious journey; dreams that will come true; a long and happy life. Reinforcement of all else seen in the cup.

Dots: Letters; messages; thoughts.

Stars: Good luck.

Dashes: Surprises.

Flowers: Joy; an engagement and marriage.

Fruit: Good fortune; children.

Daisy: Simple happiness.

Gun or dagger: Danger; strife.

Scythe: A good harvest; a death warning.

Musical instruments: Good company.

Scales: Justice; success at law.

Ladder: Increasing success.

Key: Secrets revealed; knowledge.

House: Stability.

Bottle: Excess; flirtation at a party.

Envelope: News.

Fan: An indiscreet love affair.

Teapot or kettle: Good cheer; contentment.

Pair of scissors: Angry words.

Hammer: Hard work.

There are other general indications:

Time is represented by the different levels of the cup. The rim is the present, and below this lies thenear future, while patterns formed on the base refer to events that are many years ahead.

Place is indicated by the parts of the cup in which the leaves settle. Those nearest the handle tell of events that affect the home; the leaves on the sides suggest distance according to their proximity to the handle, and those on the base show the place of birth, nationality and hidden nature of the client.

Letters of the alphabet represent the initials of people concerned in the reading; the hearer they are to the handle, the closer their relationship to the client.

Clear symbols are lucky, with the exception of those that represent illness or death.

Faint symbols tend to be unlucky, suggesting a weak character or lack of purpose.

Blessed Be-

the silent killer
08.09.04 (7:00 am)   [edit]

August 30th 2002 i was laying in bed arguing with my husband at the time we were arguing about somethign stupid i think i wanted to go grocery shopping with him and he didn't want take the kids with him so i went in the living room got my other two cereal and milk.  Emilee was 3 and Tyler was 2... Then I went back to the bedroom to go check on Kaitlyn she was on her belly her face was facing the wall so i couldn't see her and she hadn't stirred when i called her name and i noticed her feet was a funny color so i called for my husband and he flipped her over she was gone he called 911 and i just started screaming i didn't know what to do honestly i was still screaming when the paramedics showed up i just remember one of the paramedics going outside and throwing up and crying and then he came over and gave me a hug and said how sorry he was... I was told to go over to my neighbors house for a while and wait for the cops to show up my neighbor danielle watched the kids while we sat in the hospital they pronounced her dead there they brought me a piece of yellow string that she had in her hand.  When i went in to look at her she was still warm i remember wanting her to wake up so bad and how i thought it was all a bad dream and how i was gonna wake up soon and then i realized this was a nightmare a parents worst nightmare.  My husband and I were put into seperate rooms and then the questions started i felt like a criminal honestly and truly all the stuff they asked.... before the people from the funeral home came and took her away i was allowed to see her again and gave her a kiss on the top of her head she was so cold then i went outside to smoke a cigrette and then i saw them come in with theyre gurnery thingie and thats when it hit me i was never going to see her again. Then we were brought to some other room and asked more questions by CPS Children Protective Services there they informed me until the autoposy came back on Kaitlyn they were taking Emilee and Tyler and putting them into foster care...the time i needed my children the most they were taken from me...  So we came back to the house i opened the door and the cops who were "investgating the crime scene" were sitting on my couch just bullshitting so when they were done i went in and got the kids stuff and got them ready to go with the evil bitch Emilee asked me if Kaitlyn was sick and i had another break down i couldn't even finish what i was doing i just gave Emilee and Tyler a hug and told them i loved them and i would see them again soon.  Then people from my husband's shop showed up and everything else started happening we called my dad he called his parents both said they would be there as soon as they could.  I went back to my bedroom and just cried i think i cried so much that i had no tears left...a few hours later my friend Debbie showed up brought me cigrettes and just sat there and listened to me while i bawled again....August 30th was a friday we got the kids back on Monday and the following friday we had her funeral at the chapel on Hurlbert Field it was a nice service as far as funerals go some of friends showed up but it was mostly my ex's shop and the rest of his squardon.  Kaitlyn was buried in Oklahoma in Olustee her tombstone is a little lamb

The worst thing about this is all is there is no real reasons why babies die of sids.  My cat had tried to wake us  up earlier that morning and we just kicked her out and shut the door and now i'm stuck in a place in my life thinking maybe she knew something was wrong and she was trying to warn us and if i had woken up would i have my baby girl now in my arms instead of in my heart.

lMy husband and i split up July 03 i was 7 months pregnant with our 4th child Meghan Kay was born Sept 1st 03 a year and 2 days to the day her big sister passed away when she was born all i could do was look at her and see all the resemblances between her and Kaitlyn...Meghan will be 1 in a couple of weeks.

I just wish there was a reason why bad things happen to good people

Very softly you tiptoed into our world,

almost silently,

only a moment you stayed

But what an imprint your footprints

have left upon our hearts.

buying a miracle
08.03.04 (12:10 pm)   [edit]
A little girl went to! her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glasscounter. That did it! And what do you want?" the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. "I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages," he said without wa! iting for a reply to his question. Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. "He's really, really sick... and I want to buy a miracle." ''I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist. His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?" We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you," the pharmacist said, softening a little. "Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs." The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?" I don't know," Tess replied with hereyes welling up. "I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money." How much do you have?" asked the man from Chicago. One dollar and eleven cents," Tess answered barely audibly. "And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to." Well, what a coincidence," smiled the man. "A dollar and eleven cents---the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. " He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need." That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. That surgery," her Mom whispered. "was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?" Tess ! smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and eleven cents ..... plus the faith of a little child. A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law......A TRUE STORY

this is a poem that was sent to me by a friend of mine after my daughter passed away and i love it makes me cry everytime i hear it but its beautiful...

God's Loan

I will lend you, for a little time,
a child of mine, He said,
for you to love the while she lives
and morn for you when she's dead

It may be six or seven years,
or twenty-two or three
but will you, till I call her back,
take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
and should she stay be brief,
you'll have her lovely memories
as solace for your grief.

I can not promise she will stay
since all from earth return,
but there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I've looked the world wide over,
in search of teacher true,
and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes
I have selecte you

Now will you give her all your love,
nor think the labor vain,
nor hate me when i come to call
to take her back again?

I fancied that i heard them say,
Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joys Thy child will bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter her with tenderness,
we'll love her while we may,
and for the happines we've known,
forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for her
much sooner than we've planned,
we'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.

The mention of my child's name may bring tears to my eyes,
But it never fails to bring music to my ears.
If you are really my friend,
let me hear the music of her name!
It soothes my broken heart and sings to my soul!

animal totems

Animal Totems

Ladybug:
stand for fulfilled wishes, a time of luck and also protection, happiness, material gain, a renewed sense of well-being on the way. They tell us an opportunity is approaching to pursue or capture something you have been wishing for. Sometimes they can appear to tell us to be sure we aren't limiting our own potential or are failing to reach for our dreams, or that we might be letting others stand in our way of reaching them.

Hawk:
a messenger, and also a sign we need to trust our own perceptions and grasp opportunities that are approaching or perhaps have already come our way; they herald a time of strength and vision, and remind us to examine things closely. Sometimes they indicate a new venture; can help us find a larger over-view of a situation or picture. Hawk can also help us bring past-life recall to the surface.

Skunk:
tell us to create a position of strength and honored reputation by respecting ourselves and "walking our talk", and to assert ourselves without being overly egotistical; help us learn to avoid/repel those who wish to drain our energy and remind us to use our energy wisely and examine how much we send out to others. Advise us to be proud of accomplishments. May sometimes appear to tell us we might be being too egotistical or leaking away energy we may need.

Shark:
indicates busyness and activity, help us focus on shadows and find what lies below the surface of a situation, and tell us to trust what seems right for us and take advantage of opportunities while using our sense of discernment as a guide. May sometimes appear to tell us we are being too busy or too continuously on the move.

Written and Submitted By SatoriMoon

Praying Mantis:
signal a time to be alert, and use the stillness to sense both dangers and opportunities and draw on your own power and wisdom; can herald a time of significant dreams, so pay attention to them; a reminder that stillness enhances creativity and inner healing. Sometimes appear to suggest we may be allowing ourselves to be hurt in a relationship or partnership, or that we might be acting in an overly forceful way.

Butterflies:
are a sign of and bringer of joy, love, and health; indicate a time of emergence and beneficial changes, heightened senses, and changes in ones self or in a relationship. They can also be telling us of coming opportunities and insights that will being to emerge for us. Sometimes indicate a time for us to transform and "blossom".

Domestic cat:
an animal of the Goddess and associated with Witches, they are associated with prophesy and the underworld as well and can mean a time of messages and divination; they tell us we may need to be more playful, or already have a playful personality; can teach us when to "strike" and when to hold back and wait; are a sign of independence - or a need for us to find it, and can help us find hidden information. It is also thought they can help protect us from negativity as they are said to be able to sense it.

Eagle:
brings clear vision (or speaks of a need for it) and the ability to see into the future of things...and tells us to be willing to follow that vision through and find new perspectives; indicate a time for us to snatch opportunities before they are lost, and to know when and how much to speak; remind us not to be impatient, and of the importance to stay grounded while using our vision in order to be able to put the knowledge and goals into play

Dragonfly:
tell us to notice the tiniest shifts in our perceptions, and to express who we truly are...tell us it's our time to "shine" and express our creativity and imagination; help us (or tell us to) to see through illusion to what is real beneath it, and often indicate a time of transformation and maturity which we should not resist. Sometimes appear to tell us of a need to balance our emotions with clear thought, and to trust our intuition and creative abilities.

Cricket:
indicates a time to trust our intuitions and dreams, as well as our perceptions about the people in our lives; bring cheerfulness and a time to anticipate rewards, success, and pleasure. Sometimes they appear to tell us we may be holding onto unsuitable beliefs we need to shed, or to tell us to decide if we are seeing something clearly or just blundering around in the dark.

Grasshopper:
represent a time of leaps of happiness, hopes, and dreams, especially those associated with family and home; tell us it's time to take a chance and make a jump forward and often herald sudden success. Tell us to trust our inner voice, and are a symbol of good luck and cheer, as well as new connections to Spirit. They can be telling us that life can become difficult if we stay in one spot and refuse to move forward, or be asking us if we are prepared to take that forward leap at all.

Bee:
help us realize we can accomplish even that which seems impossible, and tell us of a time or need to prioritize and/or to cooperate with others. Can foretell a time of choices, communication, fertility or love. May appear to tell us our energies are too scattered, or that we are too busy, or even that we need to ask for cooperation from others instead of always going it alone. They can help us with concentration and prosperity.

Wolf:
tell of strong communication, sharpening our senses and trusting inner thoughts (and can be a reminder that our intuition is growing), bring guidance and protection, and the ability to work within a group structure and watch over others; may be a sign to use your intelligence and not take risks; often guide us to a spiritual teacher. Wolf brings wisdom and protection our way.

Deer:
are considered magickal, and sacred to many Goddesses such as Artemis, Athena, and Diana as well as many Gods, such as Cernunnos; teach us how to hide, the message of grace, swiftness, and gentleness; may appear to tell us we need to be alert. Can represent dreams and intuition, and tell us its time to listen to them. When Deer appears in meditation, it can lead us to spiritual knowledge which we can bring into our consciousness afterwards. Stags bring messages from Guides, and understanding of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth and are also a symbol of male virility

Horse:
associated with movement, travel, and journeys and can indicate a time of movement best undertaken with self-discipline; sometimes tell us we have a need to tame or harness any out of control emotions and gain balance by avoiding extremes; represent freedom and power. When Horse appears it may be telling us to ask if it's time for us to move on, or examine if we are wasting energy or losing our freedom by refusing to assert ourselves.

Spider:
show us how to create (weave) our reality and our own future; remind us of the web of life and the interconnectedness of everything around us, and help us express our creativitiy; reminder to be direct and straightforward and not get entangled in too many things, and that we need to use our energies to our advantage and be patient; Spider sometimes appears to prod us into weaving our dreams into our reality, or to tell us we need to seek balance and not waste our energies

Frog:
lesson of cleansing, and taking a break from all the frustrations and guilt, nervousness etc. that we are bound to; freeing ourselves of distraction; often applies to a need to (or an ability to) do something about negativity in our homes and environments as well; may appear to suggest we have been too long in the presence of someone or something negative and that we need to change that; tell us to take some time and reflect on the things that we need to clean up or clean away from our lives.

Dolphin:
brings the lesson of communication, sharing knowledge and information in an understandable way, and can help us search for solutions to things; they can also appear to remind us to be a little more lighthearted, and to take the time to breathe and discover our own sense of rhythm in things, as well as to nourish ourselves properly, physically, emotionally, and spiritually then focus on the possibilities that are open to us

Tiger:
symbolic of passion, power, sensuality and stamina; they tell us to trust what we sense about others, and keep our ideas and endeavors private from those we aren't sure of; they may be telling us that someone or something is being (or will be) unpredictable, or herald a time when your own power will begin to expand; may also want us to examine whether we are really following our passions and being vocal about what it is we really want to accomplish.

Crocodile:
tell us of the need to watch over our creations carefully for awhile, and can also bring a time of balance arriving for us unexpectedly; indicate the presence of a lot of primal strength and creativity and the force of "mothering"/protection; may want us to examine whether we are being too emotional about something, or too unbalanced, open, or trusting someone/something we should not. Remind us not to miss out on creative opportunities, and not to be overly domineering. It can serve as a warning to watch for something hidden just below the surface - if we are distrusting something, there is probably a good reason.

Bear:
teaches us of the power and value of introspection which allows us to see our own progress, alternatives, and options so we can plan toward achieving our goals; may appear to tell us we need to quiet our mind in order to better hear what Spirit wants to tell us; may signify a time of intuition and dreaming, or be telling us to listen to our own counsel rather than the advice and chatter of others. Bear helps us find our own natural rhythm; sometimes appears to let us know we may be hiding away too much and need to rejoin the world.

Dog:
remind us of the qualities of loyalty, devotion, and service to others; bring us the lesson of compassion and acceptance of the inadequacies or shortcomings of others, and may appear to tell us we need to find tolerance within ourselves; remind us to be true to ourselves as well as others; also symbolic of protective energy, Dog may tell us of a need to protect oneself, loved one, or even our dreams and goals.

Fox:
bring the lesson of using the art of camoflage, and how to remain invisible and observant to our best advantage (Fox may appear to tell us of a need to do exactly that as well); reminds us there is strength in silence and in keeping certain plans and knowledge to ourselves for a time. Often herald a time of magick, healing, and heightened psychic sensitivity and help us learn how to use it to our best advantage; bring us the lesson of ingenuity, and may appear as a reminder to wake up and live each day to its fullest and avoid boredom and apathy.

Rabbit:
teach us the value of knowing when to be still and when to take action, and how to know the difference, and often signal a time of great potential, fertility, and creative bursts; show us how to tune in to natural cycles and use them to our best advantage. May appear to warn us against impatience or the tendency to act in haste, and remind us to relax and think things through; also teach us the lesson of not becoming overly fearful or tell us it is time to overcome our fears and move on rather than dwell on them.

Panther:
bring the abilities and lessons of swiftness, cunning, strength and the value of perseverance; help us know when is the best time to make a bold move or when to remain in the shadows and wait it out; may be symbolic of a time of magick or mystery; a reminder of the need for us to find, nurture, and claim our own power and inner knowing. May appear to tell us of a need for independence or how to achieve it; can also indicate the gift of clairaudience (the ability to hear the sounds and communications of other lifeforms and dimensions, Spirit beings, etc.). Teach us of the ability to blend in with our surroundings in order to be a silent observer of what is going on around us. Panther is also a reminder to lose our fears and see the beauty of the night.

Squirrel:
teacher of how to reserve what we need, whether it is our own energy or certain resources, so we have enough when they will be needed rather than to fritter them away, and remind us of the need to be prepared; however, Squirrel sometimes appears to let us know we are holding on to too much and need to make a change and shed those things, attitudes, etc. that no longer serve us well. Indicate a time to develop our communication skills, or for social interaction; advise us of a need to be alert. Sometimes Squirrel wants us to stop and see we are a little too busy or acting erratically and need to slow down just a little.

Chipmunk:
remind us there is sometimes wisdom and value in keeping our creations out of sight and protected, and to guard new projects and ventures until they are established; the lesson of hearing and reacting to the voices of others rather than the words they are using as well as the need to be aware of what we are actually saying or conveying to others; teach us how to dig beneath the surface of things, as well the wisdom of protecting ourselves and what is ours. Sometimes Chipmunk will appear to tell us it might be wise to retreat a little bit for our own safety

Woodchuck:
signal a time to really delve into a new subject or area of interest, and be willing to stick with it and see it through for there is something of value to be learned; remind us there is often a need to set stricter boundaries and limits and to not be afraid to insist that they are respected. May indicate the ability of lucid dreaming, trance, meditation, and exploring other dimensions; reminder of the importance of the mind/body connection in controlling one's own systems, health, etc.

These last three may seem unusual, but they can be considered a totem, familiar, or messenger. Many people choose to work with their energies as well as those of others that are referred to as "mythical beings"....

Pegasus:
can guide us through dreams and astral travel experiences, as well as meditation; bring inspiration; teach us how to express ourselves eloquently; remind us that its time to set our imagination free or see things in a completely new light and let go of all the things we have previously viewed as our own limitations; often appear to tell us it's time to soar free and expand our beliefs and talents

Unicorn:
a symbol of innocence, gentleness, and purity, they often tell us it is time to find those things within ourselves and see through childlike eyes in order to rediscover our personal sense of wonder at all the beauty around us; help us to find and develop our individual power and then nurture it carefully; may herald a time of wisdom or a need to search out information that is important to our growth; teach us how to extend good will and generosity toward others or let us know that someone near us is in need of that from us.

Dragon:
bring wisdom of all sorts - magickal knowledge, elemental knowledge, secrets, mastery of oneself or almost any kind of techniques; they represent the supernatural, and infinity itself and help us to understand both; bring us and help us to find/create change and transformation and aid us in spiritual growth; can be called on for protection, guidance, and to help us with our magick. They represent ageless secrets and ancient energy, and can be helpful in working with those things.

A Computer Blessing Blessings on this fine machine, May its data all be clean. Let the files stay where they're put, Away from disk drives keep all soot. From its screen shall come no whines, Let in no spikes on power lines. As oaks were sacred to the Druids, Let not the keyboard suffer fluids. Disk Full shall be nor more than rarity, The memory shall not miss its parity. From the modem shall come wonders, Without line noise making blunders. May it never catch a virus, And all its software stay desirous. Oh let the printer never jam, And turn my output into spam. I ask of Eris, noble queen, Keep Murphy far from this machine blessed thoughts~ Tricia

Cat story
07.31.04 (1:18 am)   [edit]
You don't have to own a cat to appreciate this one...

A couple was dressed and ready to go out for the evening. They turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on the phone line, covered their pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. They phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi.

The taxi arrived and the couple opened the front door to leave their house. The cat they had put out into the yard scoots back into the house. They don't want the cat shut in the house because "she" always tries to eat the bird. The wife goes out to the taxi while the husband goes inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, the man in hot pursuit.
The wife doesn't want the driver to know the house will be empty. She explains to the taxi driver that her husband will be out soon. "He's just going upstairs to say good-bye to my
mother."

A few minutes later, the husband gets into the cab. "Sorry I took so long," he says, as they drive away. "Stupid bitch was hiding under the bed. Had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! Then I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from
scratching me. But it worked. I hauled her fat ass downstairs and threw her out into
the back yard!"

The cab driver hit a parked car...

becoming a witch
07.31.04 (1:17 am)   [edit]
the following came from my group their link is listed under links

Becoming a Witch

by Morgaine

I am often asked how one becomes a witch. Do you find someone who is
a witch and they make you one? Or are you a witch just by saying you
are? Can you make yourself a witch?
The process of becoming a witch doesn't happen overnight. It is a
life change, a new path upon the journey of your life. It takes
consideration, study and work. If you have previously followed a
mainstream religion, you may have things that take time to let go,
and new things that take time to absorb. I have heard many people
say it is often hard, coming from a life of Christianity, to feel
comfortable praying to the Goddess. All new things take time, but if
you are serious upon this path, you will find your way. The Gods
call their own home to them.
No matter how you have came about finding the Old Religion, here you
are. So where do you go? To the book store. For a novice, books are
like the air you breathe. You must have them, or access to them in
some way. If you cannot afford, or do not feel safe having books on
the Craft, the internet is the next best place.
In both books and on the internet you will find a wealth of
knowledge that will help guide you upon your new path. Of course, as
with anything else, there is good information and bad information.
Avoid any kind of book, or internet site, that speaks of controlling
another person in any way, harming them, doing love spells on a
specific person, or tells you to chant in latin, even though you
have no idea what you are saying (yes, I have seen sites like that).
These books/sites will not fulfill your need for knowledge in the
Craft and will only serve to confuse you.
Once you have read a variety of books and feel called to this path,
the next step is to find a teacher. If you have access to a teacher,
in my opinion this is the best course of action. A teacher or a
coven can often be found if there is a new age book store in your
community. Also, the Witches Voice is a site that offers networking
in every state. It has grown extremely large over the past few years
and is a valuable resource in the Craft community. All of my coven
members have found me on the Witches Voice.
Having a mentor can offer so much to you when you are beginning.
There will be things you come across that you have a hard time
understanding and need clarification. If you have a teacher, they
are just a phone call or email away. If you do not, you must try to
decipher things on your own, and may not come to the correct end on
them. If you do not have a teacher, again, the internet is the next
best place to look.
If you are only looking for a 'how to' on casting spells, then the
Craft is not for you. Witchcraft is a serious spiritual path, in
which magick is performed, but is secondary to the religion itself.
I would suggest you look to ceremonial magick for that.

A couple of things need to be said about beginning this path, in
light of recent attitudes about the Craft. Here lately it seems that
you have a people who, after reading a few books, feel as if they
can call themselves a master of the Art. They throw on a title like
Lady/Lord, or HP/s, add some black clothes, a pentacle the size of a
hubcap, and they are ready to go. This is not what the Craft is
about. If you have spent years following a particular path, have
worked hard for the spiritual lessons that have been presented to
you, and through this have attained the title and rank, then by all
means use it. But think of how you would feel if, after all that,
you have a newbie with 6 months and 5 books under their belt walking
about calling themselves Lady Starry Ski or Lord Thunderbutt. It is
very offensive. Just like your parents told you when you were
growing up (or maybe you still are) 'don't rush things, it will all
come to you in the end, and be sweeter for the waiting'. This is
true with the Craft. Using titles, putting on airs, and in general
acting high and mighty are not going to make you any more spiritual.
And that is what this path is about. What it will do is alienate you
from people whom you may actually want to meet and get to know!
All of this being said the way to become a witch is through study
and dedication. Gather all of the information you can. Find the best
teacher possible. Read whatever you can get your hands on. Go
outside in nature and commune with the Goddess and God. Listen to
the trees and the wind and the rush of the water, for this is the
witch's world.
